The cartoon shows Rodney Hide the former leader of ACT as Julius Caesar. He peers fearfully out from behind a Roman column fearing for his life. Context - the coup in which former National Party leader Don Brash ousted Rodney Hide from his ACT leader role and took over the role himself. The emperor Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC by a posse of rebels led by Brutus.
