- Description
Maori war canoe with elaborately carved prow and stern, three standing figures, one seated and eighteen rowers. Above the canoe at left is a copy of a seal relating to King Charles and the Royalists at Newark in 1645. Above the canoe at right is a study of two breadfruits on a branchlet with leaves.
The canoe is shown in mirror image compared with that at A-111-001-2-a
Derived from engravings after Sydney Parkinson, from drawings taken on James Cook's first voyage to the Pacific, 1768-1770, and first published in Hawkesworth, J. (London, 1773).
