Standing full length caricature of the Commandant of the New Zealand forces. A small figure representing the New Zealand Army is presenting arms to him, standing on a high stool on the left. Babington is in full dress uniform with a plumed hat. A map of South Africa lies on the floor behind him. (He had been a prominent leader in the recent South African War)
