Two scenes in one engraving. The upper scene is a broad view across Lake Taupo with the volcanoes of the Central Plateau in the background. Ngauruhoe has smoke rising from it. The lower scene shows Mt Ngauruhoe erupting, while travellers tend a campfire with their horses grazing nearby.
