A small boy has just opened a large Christmas gift that waits for him beneath the Christmas tree. The gift is to mankind from God and has on the box the words 'Peace on Earth and goodwill to all'. It is a pile of screws and bolts that require assembly. The boy is disgusted with the gift. Refers to the cartoonist's opinion that the world is a mess and requires fixing by mankind rather than by God.
