Shows sheep station of William Gilbert Rees at Lake Wakatipu outlet of Kawarau River, with mountains beyond. The station belonged to Rees between 1862 and 1867.
Rees was the first Pakeha landowner on this site. He called it Frankton after his wife, Frances
