The wooden floor is covered with eastern rugs. The lower part of the internal walls are covered with hessian, topped by a shelf on which a picture and some pottery are displayed. The fire place is of brick and the opening in the form of a gothic arch. The upper walls and the ceiling are covered with rough-cast plaster finish. The gallery leads to a braced plank bedroom door, to the left of which is a built in plank cupboard. There is no electric lighting. Photographed by Sarony Studios, Wellington, in 1909.
The interior doors of this house are braced by planks which have adzed-shaped sections cut into them. This was a trade mark of Walter Chapmen-Taylor.
