Shows a small settlement of a few houses, outbuildings and fences, seen from a rise just to the south, with the water of a curved coast at the far right. The road emerges from between low hills in the middle distance and curves south the follow the coast.
The location is possibly around the Kakanui area.
Attributed to a member of the Gifford family, possibly Algernon Charles Gifford.
The location is possibly around the Kakanui area, because Oamaru itself was larger by 1900. If it is Oamaru, the date would be earlier, 1860-1870s.
