Description

View of the patent slip at Evans Bay, Wellington, looking north from the harbour, showing the steamship Grafton and the schooner Julius Vogel (obscured) on the slip, and a small steam vessel on the hard alongside. Photograph taken ca 1880 by an unknown photographer.

The photograph was taken on the same occasion as 10x8-1825-G, possibly in late 1880. The Grafton is recorded as stranding at the Buller river on 12 May 1880 and the Julius Vogel at Waitara on 31 July 1880, the only incident recorded for this vessel in New Zealand waters.
