- Description
US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales stands on the steps of the Department of Justice and tells the nation that he has decided to fall on his sword, that is, resign from his job, in the interests of the Bush administration. Beside him a statue of the blind Goddess of Justice offers him her sword. Refers to the resignation of the controversial Gonzales after months of pressure from both Republicans and Democrats over the sacking of federal prosecutors in 2006, which critics said were politically motivated, as well as a raft of other criticisms. President Bush is a staunch supporter of Gonzales.
