Description

Cartoon shows two New Zealand soldiers in Afghanistan. One of them says that next time New Zealand decides to send Kiwis overseas to help prop up a corrupt regime that denies people their basic human rights he would prefer to go to Fiji. Refers to the government's controversial decision to send SAS forces to Afghanistan to assist the fight against the Taliban instead of assisting in the redevelopment of Afghan infrastructures. The recent election has returned Hamid Karzai as president, a result that is widely believed to be that of a corrupt system. Fiji's President Bainimarama is a military leader who is resisting holding democratic elections. The soldier considers his survival chances to be greater in Fiji than in Afghanistan.
