An engraving showing the image by Webber reversed, with Cook on land at the left raising his hand to stop his men from firing from their rowing boat at the right. Molesworth Phillips, Lieutenant of the Marines, seated on the very edge of the water, fires his musket into the crowd of island inhabitants.
