Caption - Original Evening Post caption reads: 'Only the hardiest travellers were taking deep breaths of sea air on the Aranui as it went out the heads like this today. The rest were probably hardly daring to breathe at all. Bad as it was around town, it was still more fun walking that heading out into that 50mph southerly that hit with gusts of 58mph and a top blast of 62mph between 10am and noon. And Picton was still an awful number of lurches away for the 93 passengers aboard.'
