New Zealand and Australian prisoners of war in Italian camp 57 outside Red Cross food and parcel store prior to distribution of remaining parcels before evacuation into Germany after Italian captitulation. In foreground left to right are Second Warrant Officer R. Thorpe of the 25th Battalion, 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force, Second Warrant Officer Alan Beecroft of the Australian Imperial Force, and Major Chaplain McDowell of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditioonary Force, Chaplains Division, senior padre at the camp.
