Comprises letters written by Grant to his friend, Leslie McKillop, just before and during active service in France, describing his experiences (1916-1917). The letters were written from Trentham, Featherston, Sling Camp, Salisbury, Somewhere in France and France. Grant frequently mentions his friends, the band members of Mosgiel. Also includes newspaper article from the `Otago Daily Times' of 21 August 1971, by J F Allan describing Grant's war experiences, based on the letters; and transcripts of the letters.
