On the left of the image stands a little family of 'beneficiaries', a rather forlorn mother and three children, while Minister of Finance, Bill English, stands outside the gate of his very nice house in Karori. Flying off into the distance is a plane from which floats a voice saying 'I'm off to visit my grandchildren'. The word 'Beneficiaries' appears in large print across the top of the image. Refers to the growing gap between rich and poor and the difficulties of beneficiaries. Also refers to the row about ministerial perks. The man in the plane is probably ACT MP Roger Douglas, who flew to Britain to visit family at the taxpayer's expense. Bill English used nearly $1000 a week of taxpayer money to finance the mortgage on his family home in Karori while at the same time asking New Zealanders to restrain spending..
