The cartoon shows Gerry Brownlee, Minister for Economic Development and for Energy, marching through the bush whistling and carrying an axe in one hand and a rolled document entitled 'Mining plans' in the other. Text above reads 'Conservation land under threat...' and a native frog says 'There goes the neighbourhood!'. Refers to the government's decision to give the go-ahead to exploratory drilling for the mining of various minerals in several national parks. This is an extremely controversial move (led by Energy Minister, Gerry Brownlee, which conservationists and the tourist industry are not happy about.
