- Description
Shows in the right foreground a traditionally dressed Maori warrior standing with taiaha in an ornately carved and decorated canoe (front end only visible). Two rowers are visible behind him. The setting is a river gorge, possibly the Wanganui River. The text is arranged above and below the picture, and there is a blank area at the bottom for advertising details to be filled in. The sides are bordered with a Maori decorative border.
Miria Simpson notes that the carving on the canoe is similar to that on "Te Winika", the first of Te Puea's waka, from the flotilla at Ngaruawahia, now in the Waikato Museum of Art and History.
