Description

The chief of civil defence, dressed in a military uniform sits at a desk festooned with telephones and papers and points with a riding whip at a map on the wall. He says that next time there is a tsunami emergency messages will be put into bottles and cast out to sea so that when one floats into your living room you will be in no doubt about the reality of the tsunami. Refers to a tsunami alert for the Gisborne area about which there has been a lot of criticism of central Civil Defence in Wellington because of the inadequacy of the warnings.
