- Description
Shows a large angry-looking pig wearing lipstick and representing the 'Election campaign'. The leaders of all the parties stand outside the wall of its pen staring at it. The pig declares that it is going to get 'down and dirty' in the run up to November 8th,(election Day) in spite of the lipstick. The part leaders are from left, Jeanette FitzSimon, co-leader of the Greens, Helen Clark, MP and Labour Party leader, the pointy head of Rodney Hide of ACT, John Key of National, the head of Pita Sharples, Maori and Winston Peters, NZ First. The lipstick reference comes from the US election campaign when Barack Obama said 'But you know... you can put lipstick on a pig, but its still a pig. You know, you can.. wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, its still going to stink after eight years. The reference was taken by the Republicans as being an insult to Sarah Palin.
