The cartoon shows Pope Benedict XV1 with a devil's tail protruding from beneath his gown. A priest points out that his tail is showing as the Pope declares that he has never tried to cover-up child abuse reports. Refers to the scandal in the Catholic church over child abuse by priests. The Pope was blamed directly for ignoring repeated pleas by senior American churchmen to take action against a priest who had molested up to 200 deaf boys. Officials quited "Cases of this kind are subject to the pontifical secret" In 2001 Joseph Ratzinger (now the Pope) ruled that child abuse claims must be handled in canonical trials behind closed doors.
