'The Politician' cartoon strip. Former Maori Party MP Hone Harawira has 'left a left party to start up a left of left party'. Context - Hone Harawira has resigned from the Maori Party and become an independent. He has been at odds with the Maori party for some time, being critical of the Maori Party's relationship with the government which he sees as ignoring the real needs of Maori people. Harawira will seek re-election in the Te Tai Tokerau electorate as either an independent MP or for a "new political movement". The Maori Party will not stand a candidate in the electorate.
