The cartoon shows Finance Minister Bill English as a Robin Hood trickster pulling three arrows onto his bow - the arrows represent 'food prices', 'power prices' and 'fuel prices'. Bill English says that just as they think they are getting away with a tax break they will be 'skewered with this' - price hikes for food, power and fuel. In the background is the Beehive and a group of laughing MPs - hey include PM John Key, Minister for Energy and Resources Gerry Brownlee, Corrections Minister Judith Collins and Minister for Social Development Paula Bennett. Refers to the 2010 budget which offered tax cuts which were largely paid for by a rise in GST from 12.5% to 15% which will impact on those with low incomes. On top of this the cost of power, fuel and food is likely to rise.
