Description

A couple lounge in their armchairs reading the newspaper and chatting. A headline in the paper is about former Prime Minister, Helen Clark, winning a post in the United Nations. One of the people is pleased because she thinks it will mean that there will be no more smacking in Africa and the Middle East. Refers to Helen Clark's appointment as head of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It refers also to the Anti-smacking bill legislated by the Labour Party and maybe to Helen Clark's slightly school-marmish reputation.

Text at bottom of the cartoon reads 'With thanks to Major Donald Spary. ONZM. GM.'
