Shows American President Barack Obama dressed in stars and stripes shorts and vest grinning broadly as a basketball representing 'American studies' slams and bounces on the ground right in front of him. Refers to the observation that President Obama's election has brought about a surge in the number of students applying to take a degree in American Studies, one of the disciplines top academics has said. Dr George Lewis, Director of the Centre for American Studies and a Reader in American History at the University of Leicester, has identified what he calls an 'Obama bounce' in American Studies applications in Britain this year.
