McNamara, John Joseph, 1918-2001:[Collection of newsprint clippings of illustrations and cartoons.]

Collection of political cartoons published in The Southern Cross which mainly relate to Sidney Holland and his conservative policies, as well as the New Zealand forces that were sent to Japan after its deafeat in World War II. Also contains cartoons that are specific to the Wellington region with particular reference to mayor William Appleton and the prison on Mt Crawford. International issues are also adressed; especially those relating to Britain's class sysyem and the social problems that the nation faced in the aftermath of World War II.
