US Economy. Two years later. 4 November 2010
- Date
- 2010

- Description
In the top frame the newly elected President Obama reaches out of the dark which is peopled with grinning eyes and mouths and attempts to put a spark from a lighted match into the economy and in the second frame he is seen 'two years later' surrounded by dead matches and kneeling desperately in front of a faintly smoking firework that represents the 'US economy'. Refers to the swing against Obama largely because of the sluggish economy with an expected shift from Democratic control in the House and Senate to a Republican majority. However people have pointed out the similarities between President Obama and President Clinton, who had a similar approval rating when the Republicans took control of the House in the 1994 midterm elections, but went on to win a second term by a large majority.
