At a crossroads stands a large signpost with directions to 'more roads' and 'more votes' pointing to the left and 'less carbon emission' and 'less green house gas' pointing to the right. A truck with the 'L' logo for Labour on its side and the words '$544m tax windfall' on its back is driving along the road towards 'more roads' and 'more votes' Two men, who are watching the truck go by, comment "So much for their Kyoto principles". Refers to the recent news that New Zealand's playing a part in the Kyoto protocol has resulted in a $1m deficit instead of an anticipated large credit. The suggestion in the cartoon is that there may have been a greater emphasis the money to be made in credits rather that the good done to the planet in terms of there being less carbon emission and green house gas.
