- Description
A statue representing Lady Justicia shows a photograph of Nia Glassie. The statue points at the viewer and says that her excuse was blindness, what was ours. Refers to outrage over the number of child abuse and murder cases in New Zealand. The suggestion is that people are aware of what is going on but do not speak up.
Colour version of DCDL-0008596
Nia Glassie suffered prolonged abuse and neglect by her family, and eventually passed away as a result of her injuries aged three years old. Nia's abuse became the subject of various campaigns against violence and cruelty to children in New Zealand.
