View from behind Mr Hamilton Ward's house on Quail Island, looking towards Lyttelton and Mt Pleasant and out to Godley Head and the open sea. Mr Ward's cottage is fenced and has a chimney, and windows on either side of a central door. There is a dog near on the right and a wheelbarrow by a dug area of garden on the left
