- Description
Embroidered in coloured silks, on a black silk base, with designs of flowers, birds, etc. Possibly originally described as a Spanish shawl, although made in China.
Draped over Katherine Mansfield's coffin during her funeral in Fontainebleau, France.

Provenance: Bequeathed by Katherine Mansfield to Anne Estelle Rice, later Mrs Drey, of Hampstead, London. Originally given to Mansfield by Lady Ottoline Morrell as a Christmas present in 1917 (See letter from KM to OM, Jan 18, 1918, in vol 2, Collected letters, p. 24, note 1.)
