Stamped numerals. Pairs of pin holes are visible in each corner.
See photograph of Porritt wearing this shirt in the 100 metres final race, in which he finished third, thus winning the bronze medal; photograph is reproduced in Graeme Woodfield and Joseph Romanos' "No ordinary man" (Wellington, 2008), page 58.
The numbers are almost identical inverted, but the bowl of the "8" should be placed at the bottom.
