Description

Six letters written by Keating's brother, James Patrick, while on active service during World War One. (i) The first three, 11 Sep 1917-25 Jan 1918 are written from camp in New Zealand and the remaining three, 21 Apr-28 Jul 1918 are written from camp in England where he was waiting to be dispatched to the Western Front in France; (ii) three letters written by a friend Jock Walls, from Featherston Camp, 25 Jun 1917, Cannock Chase Camp, England, 10 Oct 1917 which contains a description of his voyage from New Zealand aboard the `Waitemata' and a letter written from No 2 New Zealand General Hospital, Walton on Thames, describing the injuries he sustained on 5 Apr in fighting on the Somme, 7 July 1918; (iii) Letter from J L Liddle of Nelson, 19 Sep 1918
