- Description
Picture composed from works by William Hodges and Sydney Parkinson, on Cook's first and second voyages, shows a group of Maori in the foreground, taken from Hodges' "Family in Dusky Bay", with the seated woman and child at the left rather than the right. In the water behind them is a large carved war canoe, Parkinson's "War canoe of New Zealand", with the high stern at the right hand side.
The identity of the lithographer, initials PL or DL, LD, or LP, is unknown. Monograms not found in Benezit.
Another copy in the National Library of Australia, tentatively dated 1830s.
