Description

There are two frames; in the first frame Gerry Brownlee, National member for Ilam, comments on the headline 'Lange's passing' in the newspaper that Don Brash, the leader of the National Party, is reading, saying ' I see Labour's lost a former leader, Don.' In the second frame, Jim Bolger, former leader of the National Party and New Zealand ambassador to Washington rushes in yelling 'Let's talk nukes! Let's talk nukes!!' Don Brash comments sourly to Gerry Brownlee that they (Labour) seem to get all the luck. The reference is to the fact that Jim Bolger, although he says that he doesn't want to enter the political fray, wants New Zealand and the United States to tackle the nuclear issue with the United States which he believes is getting in the way of free trade. His political and diplomatic credentials mean his decision to raise the nuclear impasse at a pro-US business conference in Auckland recently would provoke debate. Now, because David Lange, who was responsible for New Zealand's nuclear-free stance, has died, it seems that the issue could more easily be raised. Labour will retain the status-quo and so it is left to National to move on the issue if anyone does.

Other Titles - "I see Labour's lost a former leader, Don." "Let's talk nukes! Let's talk nukes!!" "Yes...they seem to get all the luck, Gerry."
