- Description
Shows a stage on which National spokesman for Finance, Robert Muldoon, sits in a rocking chair playing a guitar and singing "folk songs" with words pertinent to his political position. An audience of three frown: Tom Skinner of the Federation of labour, Labour leader Norman Kirk, and Labour politician Bill Rowling.
Muldoon sings parodies of folk songs:
And the F.O.L. turns forty shades of green
'Twas Paddy McGinty's goat, but I prefer to get Tom Skinner's and Norman's
With me shillelagh under me arm, I'll take a swipe at one and all
When I lower the boom of the sheep farmers, like I did to the dairy farmers
I'll tax your home again, Kathleen, after the elections
Bob Muldoon is shining above the green mountain, and the rest of the country too
The title is a parody of the "Val Doonican Show". Val Doonican, an Irish singer, was touring New Zealand in October 1972.
