FOL (N.Z.), Federation of Labour (N.Z.)

The NZFOL was formed in 1937 out of the New Zealand Alliance of Labour and the Trades and Labour Councils Federation of New Zealand. (Encyclopaedia of NZ Vol 1, p 635-636). In 1988 it was wound up, its functions being taken over by the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions.

Tapes of interviews with Mitchell by Doug Crosado have been transferred to the Oral History Centre. Nearly all papers relating to Mitchell's involvement with local politics in Freemans Bay, Auckland, have been deposited with the Auckland Institute and Museum.
