Comprises draft (possibly final) for study of settlement of the area along the road to Whangara from Gisborne covering early Maori migration, and settlement up to the present day (ie ca 1976). Chapters include pre-European settlement, settlement by Europeans, changes, whakapapa and includes appendices by Arnold Reedy on the origins of Ngati Porou and by Kapa Potae Paikea on Kennedy Bay (1947). Pages 5,6,9,12 and 19 lack last lines which can be found in galley proofs at MSI-Papers-5785.
