Photographs fall into two general groups. One group relates to aerial battles at sea with views of aircraft on the decks of carriers, in the air, dog fights indicated by vapour trails, sinking ships, troops dropped by paracutes, and burning buildings. The other, larger group, were taken while Ian Harper was serving with J Force, part of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force, Japan. During this time he was a driver in the Transport Section of Headquarters Company, 27 Battalion based in Yamaguchi. Photographer(s) unidentified.
None of the photographes are identified, except for an aerial view of Camp Canturbury Barracks at Yamaguchi.
