Hamish Murphy, hot dog vendor at Wellington railway station, looks at wedding pictures of his Thai wife, Duangkamon Suwan, photographed on 7th April 1998 at his stand by Evening Post staff photographer Phil Reid.
Original caption reads: "A Wellington hot dog vendor is steaming after he was forced to return to New Zealand without his Thai bride just two weeks after their wedding. Hamish Murphy - who for the past five years has run a hot dog stand at Wellington railway station - married his sweetheart Duangkamon Suwan in a Buddhist ceremony in Thailand last month...When they applied for the (visitor's) visa...an official told the newlyweds...Ms Suwan would have to wait at least another six months before being granted the visa."
