Shows a military camp on a flat high area above the cliffs north of the mouth of the Patea River with a redoubt on the south bank as well. Toitoi and flax in the foreground, soldiers relaxing and moving around and the sea in the background
This site had formerly been a pā site. The redoubt on the south bank, known as Dawson's Redoubt, was completed in February 1865
