Monro, Henry Alfred Home, 1824-[ca 1905] : Annotated copy of The Life and times of Patuone / C O Davis

Monro's copy of Davis' biography, with extensive annotations in Monro's hand. The annotations provide additional detail to the text and, in some cases, correct it. Includes 9 pages of notes, relating to two anecdotes illustrating tensions between Maori and Pakeha in the Hokianga and Bay of Islands in the late 1830s and early 1840s, the first regarding Mangamuka Tohukakahi of the Ihutai tribe, and the second re the trial and execution of a Maori for the murder of a European settler.
