Lauper, Jakob, 1815-1891 : Umstandlicher Bericht uber die Expedition und den Tod des Hr Withcomb [ie Whitcombe]

Account of his journey, as guide for John Henry Whitcombe, from the headwaters of the Rakaia River across the Southern Alps to the mouth of the Taramakau River, near Kumara. Whitcombe was working on contract for the Canterbury Provincial Government and drown during the expedition.
