Eric George Laing Patterson. As a young man Eric was a member of the Lyall Bay Surf Club. He was a champion swimmer who in 1920 held the New Zealand record for swimming 100 yards in 60 seconds. At about the same date he was nominated as a New Zealand rep. for the Olympic Games. He was a master of and one of the first New Zealanders ot use the six beat crawl swimming style.
As an adult he worked as an accountant with Inland Revenue, Wellington, eventually becoming chief accountant. He retired from his job in 1957.
Eric married Florence Ivy Sunnex on the first of August 1928.
Eric had a brother Harold and a sister Maisie.
There are also some photographs of Florence Sunnex's family, the Wellington Zoo, the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition and of members of the Wellington Football Club in the early 1920s
