In the first of two frames a researcher takes a poll on whether New Zealanders expect to find themselves in a better or worse financial position in the next 12 months. A man over whom looms a huge black cloud of doom and gloom economic reports mutters that they cannot get any worse. In the second frame the reporter cheerfully reports that New Zealanders stay optimistic about their bank balances. Refers to the recession that has hit New Zealand in the wake of the global economic crisis.
