A United States marine dressed in full fighting gear passes a baton that is on fire to an Iraqi soldier who is about to seize it and race onwards. Refers the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq on 30 June 2009. Cities throughout Iraq celebrated with parades, fireworks and a national holiday as the prime minister trumpeted the country's sovereignty from American occupation to a wary public.
