A view from the sea of Matavai Bay, Tahiti, with houses visible amongst a fringe of trees at the water's edge, several canoes near the shore, and tall hills rising behind the settlement
Joppien / Smith number for these drawings is 3.96. On verso of each sheet is a portrait of a Tahitian man, one called Awallo, the other Oammo
Inscriptions: Recto - top right - 'Otaheite?' in ink. Also indications where the two sheets join 'Joins to another piece' and 'A piece joins to this' with lines to mark the joins. On the left sheet, above the image, in pencil 'See Awallo [crossed out] Oammo'; on the right sheet, 'See Owallo'
