- Description
An account written in 1996-1997 by Boocock of his military career including his experiences serving with the 2nd Ammunution Company, NZASC during the Italian Campaign. It includes extracts from diaries and letters written during the War and is illustrated with sketches, photographs, maps and copies of military ephemera. He describes undertaking military training in New Zealand, June 1941-June 1943, sailing for Egypt aboard the Nieuw Amsterdam, spending time at Maadi Camp then proceeding to Italy in October 1943 where he remained until the end of 1945. Boocock provides a detailed account of the Allied advance north through Italy together with descriptions of the Italian towns and countryside he passed through.

Description: Volume 3 begins on 1 January 1945 when Boocock was in Forli, Italy and contains an account of the remainder of the Italian Campaign. He remained in Italy after the end of hostilities and in October drove across Europe to Calais and embarked for England for a period of leave before returning to Italy in December. He sailed for home on 26 December 1945 from Taranto aboard the `Dominion Monarch' and arrived at Lyttelton on 24 January 1946. Quantity: 1 volume(s).
