- Description
A base map of the the El Taqa area, south-west of El Alamein, has overprinting of Eighth Army artillery positions and defences and detailed notes refer to these. Military conventional signs are referred to in key on the reverse pf the map. Minefields are prominently marked. The terrain is described in English and a note states that the terrain is traversable by mechanical vehicles except where soft surfaces and steep slopes are marked. Coverage of this map is from the area north of the mountain Gebel Sanhur to Quyburet 'Awaila and Hatiyet el Taiha. The 'Purple' grid is referred to, and instructions are given to work out grid references. Includes map index to adjoining sheets and a glossary of names of features in romanised Arabic translated into English.
