A flat valley with Kahungunu, eponymous ancestor of Ngati Kahungunu, passing his daughter to Tutamure, who stands on the left, with another person. The daughter is holding a large mere, handle out towards Tutamure. In the background are two groups of Maori with the palisades of a pa on the hill to the right
